Amy Smart is a former American actor and model. Born and brought up in California USA she started her modelling career in Italy. Her first acting role was in the 1996 TV production Her Costly Affair. She struggled to get an appearance in Starship Troopers. It was difficult for her to transition into acting since models weren't considered good actors, and they generally were offered small roles. Amy was determined to succeed and she eventually landed larger roles beginning in The 70s, the movie Varsity Blues. Then she stepped into leading roles with the 2005s romantic comedy film Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. The film was a major film at the box office and Amy has finally achieved the recognition that she was trying for for more than 10 years. She then went on to work in many of the greatest film productions, such as the Crank series starring Jason Statham as well as Shameless, where she played a recognizable character.
